Germany Selects Ilker Çatak's 'The Teacher's Lounge' to Compete for Oscar Nomination in International Feature Category

Ilker Çatak, formerly one of the UGA German program's Max Kade Visiting Artists, has had his film chosen to represent Germany for nomination in the 2024 Oscars.

UGA dual degree students and ASHRAE fellow and director Dr. Thomas Lawrence stand in a slight arc around Dr. Heide Crawford, who is behind a dark wood podium that has a large gold plate etched with THE HALLE FOUNDATION in all capitals. Ilker Çatak's 'The Teachers' Lounge' Takes Top Prize at 2023 German Film Awards

Former Max Kade Foundation Artist-in-Residence Ilker Çatak's new film Das Lehrerzimmer, or "The Teachers' Lounge," won the best film at the German Film Awards this past Friday, May 12th.
