Image: Interested in studying abroad, but unable to due to finances, time, or travel restrictions? UGA Germanic & Slavic Studies's Virtual German Exchange Program, UGA+HANNOVER, might be right for you. Offered as either a fun, non-credit option or, for the first time, as a one-hour credit, 6 week summer program, the exchange pairs students from UGA with conversation partners from Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. Students strengthen their German conversation skills in weekly video conferences with their exchange partners, getting to know each other's respective cultures through open discussion. To register for the course, look up GRMN 2990, CRN 69785. The course requires 6 video sessions over 6 weeks, but there is flexibility in case of scheduling conflicts. The requirements include a video session with program coordinators in Hannover on May 11 at 10:00am with a video recording for those who cannot attend, a virtual tutoring session with a German instructor from Leibniz University, and an oral presentation in German. The course is from May 16 to July 15. Please register by Sunday, May 1, 2022. There is also the option to do the program not-for-credit. GRMN 2990 is also offered in the fall for the whole fall semester. The course can be taken for credit or not. The CRN is 54242. For more information or to sign up for the non-credit option, please contact Dr. Vera Lee-Schoenfeld. For clearing a registration hold, please contact german@uga.edu. Tags: study abroad
