Summer Schedule for Kaffeestunde & Stammtisch

Image:
A summer schedule for Stammtisch and Kaffestunde virtual conversation tables, held the last Friday and First Monday of each month through Aug. 2020 via Zoom.

If you've never experienced a conversation group to practice your German, summer is the perfect time to check it out. Of course, the summer of 2020 is virtually the best opportunity to participate in either Stammtisch or Kaffeestunde -- both via Zoom this summer.

It's a chill and judgment-free environment where you can chat with friends or new acquaintances, no matter what level of German you have mastered -- or not.

In pre-pandemic days, Kaffeestunde met in Joe Brown Hall's lobby every Friday at 2pm, with the strong scent of coffee wafting through the first floor, accompanied by Oreo cookies in flavors you never knew existed. That seemed to get everyone ready to chat, and groups of 2-3 were spread around the room practicing their German, led by Dr. Katie Chapman. A tradition for sure!

You could also count on heading into The Globe in downtown Athens on  Mondays at 5pm and meeting up with a friendly group there for Stammtisch. The big attraction -- other than a chilll and judgment-free environment to practice your German -- the amazing fries!

Well, those things will have to wait until Fall (hopefully), but for now there's the virtual version of both events. So give them a try during these laid-back days of summer.

The Zoom link for both Stammtisch and Kaffeestunde is https://zoom.us/j/9722371893    Meeting ID: 972 237 1893

See the complete schedule posted in the graphic. Be sure to add it to your calendar! Just one thing, you'll have to bring your own fries and Oreos!

Auch im Sommer zusammen sein!
