Authorities and Law in Modern German Society and Culture

This course provides a cross-cultural (Germany-US) exploration of current perceptions and interactions of authorities (e.g. police) with the public through an examination of laws and regulations. We take a close look at crime and morality in popular media such as television crime dramas. We also explore the freedom of religious practices in school, as well as attitudes towards refugees and their legal standing. – The course includes targeted vocabulary building. Taught in German. Online course.
