Lecture

Jeffrey Schneider is Assoc. Professor of German and Chair of the German Studies Department at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. His teaching interests include language courses; drama; literature and culture from the turn of the century; popular culture; and lesbian, bisexual and gay studies. Together with Silke von der Emde, he developed an online German-language learning environment soldiers of Imperial Germanycalled MOOssiggang, which is currently used in the Intermediate German Sequence. In addition to articles on language learning, he is currently completing a book-length study tentatively entitled Uniform Fantasies: The Militarization of Masculinity and Male Desire in Imperial Germany. Jeffrey Schneider received his PhD in German Studies from Cornell University and his BA from Bates College.
