Der gute Mensch von Sezuan - a play by Bertolt Brecht

The Cellar Theatrer in the UGA Fine Arts Building
Program

Saturday, December 3,2016 - 7:30 pm

Sunday, December 4, 2016 - 2:30 pm

Brecht's Der gute Mensch von Sezuan, will be performed on December 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the Cellar Theater in the Fine Arts building by the students of German 4020 under the direction of Dr. Katie Chapman. The play is a parable in which Brecht explores whether it is possible to be a good person in a capitalist society, among other questions into the nature of altruism, charity, love, and goodness itself. Published in 1943, it's a fantastic example of Brecht's concept of episches Theater. The play begins at 7:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, and at 2:30 pm on Sunday.

The Cellar Theater is small and tickets for all three performances will very likely sell out. Because we can't guarantee there will be any left to purchase at the door, we ask that you  purchase ticket(s) from the department office in Joe Brown Hall room 201; the price for students is $3 ($5 for non-students)! This is a rare and special opportunity  to see a play performed in German right here in Athens,  and to support German at UGA! For friends and family who do not speak German, a detailed English synopsis will be provided along with the program.
